We’ll be there: the 2012 Massachusetts Conference for Women

#MassWomen ! “The Massachusetts Conference for Women is an incredible melting pot for women from all walks of life. The diversity of participants was inspiring and there was a great sense of sisterhood throughout the entire day. Exhibiting at the conference was exciting because we met so many women with interest in our work. We will definitely be there again this year!” — Siiri Morley

Join us at the 2012 Massachusetts Conference for Women! Registration is now open for this year’s Conference, which will be held December 6th in Boston.

The Conference features motivational keynote speeches, engaging workshops and panel discussions that cover a vast range of topics specifically designed for women, including healthcare, leadership, managing change, finding work life balance and personal finance.

This year’s theme, Imagine!, dares women to find their purpose and make a difference in our own lives and in the communities and world we live in.

Could that possibly be in better alignment with our mission here at Prosperity Candle? I think not. And since two of our team members live right in Boston, the MassWomen conference is a great opportunity to get re-energized right as the year wraps up and we begin to think about our goals for 2013. Perfect timing!

“I am thrilled to have Prosperity Candle participating at this year’s MA Conference for Women. The caliber of speakers and energy of the attendees is encouraging and empowering. It is a clear opportunity to strengthen our work by reaching thousands of passionate, intelligent and socially minded women. It’s also clearly a great forum for our mission – what better place to talk about empowering women entrepreneurs globally than in a room full of experienced and budding women entrepreneurs??” Kaitlin Hasseler

The Prosperity mission continues . . . in Haiti!

Landy and Willnese: candlemakers and seamstresses! After much planning, preparation, and research, the Prosperity Candle team is ready to start making an impact in Haiti!

We’ll begin our work by recruiting and training 30 women in candle-making and business operations.  As always, our goal is to help these women not just survive, but thrive –creating scalable businesses opportunities and providing an export market through our Prosperity Candle online store.

As we get closer to our official launch in Haiti, we’re excited to unveil a new line of molded beeswax candles from our partners in Haiti.  Made from pure beeswax, these candles were handmade by Landy and Willnese, two multi-talented aspiring entrepreneurs.  When they’re not making candles, Landy and Willnese can also be found behind their sewing machines — both women are skilled seamstresses!

Landy and Willnese’s candles are a great way to decorate and share the light, while supporting the Haitian women who created them.

Fall brings big changes for Prosperity Candle

This autumn has been full of exciting transitions for Prosperity Candle.  Our team is growing and evolving, we’re moving to a new office, and we’re about to launch a new initiative in Haiti!  It’s been a whirlwind of change, and we couldn’t be more exhilarated about it all.

Founding partner Siiri is transitioning into the role of Executive Director at our nonprofit sister organization, Prosperity Catalyst.  This move will allow her to fully immerse herself in our work in Haiti.  Of course, she’s such an important part of Prosperity Candle that we couldn’t possibly replace her. We’re enjoying the new dynamics and synergies created by the Candle/Catalyst relationship.

Over at Prosperity Candle, we’ve welcomed two new members to our management team: Kaitlin Hasseler and Kim Hutt.

Kaitlin Hasseler, Director of Partnerships & Business Development

Kaitlin is taking over Siiri’s role of developing partnerships, managing our custom gifts program, and working with our Prosperity Ambassadors.

Her experience is ideal for this position having worked on global gender equity programs and corporate partnership development for the United Nations Association of Greater Boston (UNA-GB) and the Girl Scouts in Washington DC, where she developed a unique blend of strategic partnership building and nonprofit fundraising with business acumen. In her field work with Lift Up Africa, Kaitlin has seen the direct impact of women-led businesses and economic empowerment, which drives her belief in social enterprise and shared prosperity.

Kaitilin lives in Boston and will be sharing an office with Siiri. She serves on Boston’s International Women’s Day Steering Committee and the Boston Acumen Fund chapter, is a co-leader of a teen girl’s group at her church, and loves spending her free time hiking, boxing and horse-back riding across the globe.

Kim Hutt, Director of Online Marketing & Sales

Kim is managing Prosperity Candle’s entire web presence: marketing, social media, website development, e-commerce platform, and the updated systems we need to efficiently operate the company.

Before joining us, Kim was a Client Experience Designer for Pixel &Type, a boutique marketing firm creating innovative brands within the financial services industry. Kim has worked with financial advisors across the nation, helping them leverage their unique stories and authentic voices, and implement creative marketing plans. Kim is also a self-professed “systems and organizational junkie” – something Prosperity Candle has desperately needed.

Kim lives in Northampton and works in our office here. She is “thrilled to be able to bring her operational and marketing expertise to Prosperity Candle, and to have the opportunity to work at the cross-section of product and purpose.”

You can learn more about our new additions (including our new intern, Emma West!) on the Prosperity Candle team page. Stay tuned for more updates — it’s going to be an autumn full of activity!
